12 November 2023Ableton Drift Robotic Dirty Bass – Without Touching The Drift
26 November 2023Very Long and Mysterious pad done with Wavetable, 2 Reverbs and a Saturator in-between. You can use it for some droney opening sounds or some cinematic ambient landscapes and at the end surprise listener with a dive-bomb an octave down with a pitch bend wheel.
So the whole trick in therms of creating crazy harmonics is to squeeze a saturator or any distortion stuff between two long tail reverbs. Of course the input signal should have some harmonics already, that’s why I’m starting with two quite rich wavetables. Then the first filter is also a bit driven to get even a bit more of that harmonic plasticine 😀
Then I’ve created an LFO Side Chain playing with the Matrix and Midi assignment table. So let’s have a little closer look on what’s happening here:
First you need to go to the LFO1 (or 2 like in the video) and Click on it’s amount so it shows in the Midi assignments table. Then in the Midi section, we need to find that LFO Amount and assign +100% to it. And now:
– When you have your Mod Wheel at 0, The LFO amount will also be 0
– When you slide or turn the Mod Wheel to the max the LFO amount will also go to the max, adjusted here:
So that it will basically work from 0 to 50%
Then we go to the Matrix and assign that LFO to whatever we want, In this case I’ve assigned it to the Filter cut-off frequency and to the Osc 1 position.
But it of course can be anything like wavetable level, or detune or anything that makes the difference to the sound.
From now you just play with effects and macros if you wish so and go to create something amazing 🤩 .
Ok so Here’s the link to the patch i have made during the tutorial:
