Ableton Wavetable Rolling Bass
29 October 2023Instant Lo-Fi Effect Rack
12 November 2023Hi, I’m glad you’re here. I also wanted to explain the most important thing to this Pad a little bit more.
And that secret sauce is Sidechaining LFO with the Mod Wheel.
Not too many virtual synths can do that. And in Pigments it opens up another huge world of possibilities.
The whole concept is simple when you understand what’s happening:
The LFO 3 is just that Sawtooth wave that is pulsating as shown. But before it is affecting the Fine tuning (left) and the Output Volume (right) it is send through the “valve” that regulates how much of that LFO is sent to move these dials. It is like the LFO 3 had another parameter “Amount” and it was controlled by how far you’ll open (or close) the mod wheel.
And Here is that parameter MW and 1.00. The number determines how much it will affect the signal sent to the dials. 0.00 to 1.00 means that the more you “Open” The Mod Wheel the more it will let the LFO control the signal. If we set -1.00 for example it will work the opposite way. It will be by default sending the LFO to the dials but the more you “Open” the Mod Wheel the more it will Close that signal going to the dials (LFO controlled parameters).
You can of course determine how much the unaffected LFO will go to the given parameter (like Fine or Volume in our example) normally like you would do with the regular routing. Just set the upper parameter like above (0.15 for Fine or 0.10 for Volume) or just on the dials.
Here’s how it looks without added side chain. From here you just click the Side Chain and…
Choose what will control the amount of the LFO in this case controlling WT1 Main Volume:
It doesn’t have to be Sidechained with Modwheel but anything else from this list, so whatever you choose to do it’s up to your creativity.
Don’t forget to EXPERIMENT AND HAVE FUN 🤘😎

If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, you probably haven’t seen the video yet, so here’s the link:
And here’s how to install it:
Simply download, unzip, Open Pigments and Import it from the main menu:
All the best and see you in the next episode!
