Ableton Drift Dirty Bass Pad

10 September 2023Hi Everyone
As you have seen in my latest video, creating a basic kick drum isn’t any difficult.
The main concept consists of 2 things:
1. Creating a pitch envelope that will very fast drop the sound in pitch
2. Creating an amp envelope that will basically work similar and will “attack” super fast and decay also fast 200-600ms
The rest is just making it sound better, like adding that clicking sound at the beginning with a white noise and super short envelope and then of course processing it with effects. Saturation is your friend here. Use the one saturator that you are familiar with or the one that will make the sound you want to achieve. Other than that, EQ to boost (or cut) lows and mids, Some compression to limit the dynamics and make the tail a little bit more prominent.
So here’s the cheat sheet I’ve promised in the video. You can loosely follow these instructions to get started. I wouldn’t print it though (because ink $$$).
Note that the blacked out parameters aren’t changed so you can easily focus on what to play with.
Of course if you want, go ahead and download that Kick Maker 5000 I am talking about in the video and you can work on that one to see what I did.
And one important thing, As I’ve mentioned I have been using only the plugins found in Ableton Live Intro so everyone can follow. You can use 3rd party VST’s or some plugins that are in Ableton Standard, to make it even more complicated.
Here’s the link to the FREE Drift Kick Maker 5000 That I have shown in the tutorial:
And if you liked it and you want to say thanks, you can buy me a virtual coffee ☕️ here:
Thanks ❤️
If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, you probably haven’t seen the video yet, so here’s the link:
Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel for more awesome content!
And here’s how to install it:
Simply download, unzip and copy to your User Library inside Ableton’s folder.
The target folder looks like that:
“path to your Ableton folder”/Ableton/User Library/Presets/Instruments/Instrument Rack
And if you don’t have that folder yet, Launch Ableton and the drift synth, change any parameter inside the drift synth and click the little Save icon
Save the preset with your custom name and the folder will be created automatically.
All the best and see you in the next episode!
Cheers 🤘😎
